Using Self Hypnosis

Using Self Hypnosis! Release the power of your subconscious mind to make profound changes to improve your life!

Emile Coue said, “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better.”

Using Self Hypnosis
This great example of an autosuggestion, that when repeated over and over on a daily basis can actually have a beneficial effect on one’s outlook on life and on one’s health and well being. It is also a form of self suggestion or a suggestion that might be used in self hypnosis. The subconscious mind learns from repetition and if a autosuggestion is repeated often enough it will eventually be believed by the subconscious mind.

Anthony J. D’Angelo said, “Become addicted to constant and never ending self improvement.” Using self hypnosis is the perfect opiate.

My goal is to help you understand the nature and techniques for using self hypnosis so that you will be able to start using self hypnosis to successfully enter the self hypnotic state and use effective hypnotic suggestions to program your subconscious mind.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that we experience every day and don’t even realize it. We are in a state of hypnosis whenever we are on auto-pilot. Daydreaming, reading, watching a movie or TV are good examples. We don’t have to think when we are involved in these activities. Believe it or not, but driving a car can also be included in this category as it has become so natural to us that we can drive for miles while we eat, talk or listen to music and not remember places we passed along the way.

From a technical standpoint, hypnosis is defined in terms of brainwave activity. When conscious, the mind is in the Beta brain wave state. When relaxed, daydreaming or in light hypnosis the mind is in the Alpha state. When dreaming, meditating or deeply hypnotized the mind is in the Theta state. When deep asleep the mind is in the Delta state. An interesting fact is that when we go to sleep the mind must pass from Beta through Alpha to reach Delta and back through Alpha to wake up. So each of us must enter the hypnotic state at least two times a day.

What is Self Hypnosis?

Self hypnosis is also called autohypnosis, self suggestion or autosuggestion. It is hypnosis that is induced by oneself or a state of hypnosis that is self induced. It is also an altered state of consciousness, a trance like state, where the subconscious mind is more susceptible to suggestions than it is when one is in the conscious state. Unlike the conscious mind, the subconscious mind is very literal and incapable of critical thought which is a characteristic of the conscious mind. The hypnotic state allows the subconscious mind to accept suggestions and act on them without interference and censorship from the conscious mind.

Experts agree that all hypnosis is really a form of self hypnosis. Listening to pre-recorded audio or other media is not considered self-hypnosis, but is actually a form of hypnosis.

Using self hypnosis is a skill. Mastering self hypnosis requires instruction and repetitive practice to program the subconscious mind. I recommend setting aside a period of time each day to practice using self hypnosis. The goal is to develop a method of rapid trance induction or trigger that will program your subconscious mind to go into the hypnotic state instantaneously at will. Once you have developed a trigger to produce instant hypnosis, you will be able to use self hypnosis whenever you need it. For example, I use self hypnosis whenever I am at the dentist. Before a class is about to start, I do a short session to set my subconscious mind to concentrate on and absorb the lecture material or immediately before I am about to take an examination, I will have a short session of using self hypnosis for relaxation during the test and better confidence in my recall of the subject material and answers.
